Seymour News - Starting a New Position

My New Position: Regional Outreach Staff

I have recently accepted a position at Youth Challenge as Regional Outreach Staff. Youth Challenge is an interdenominational, non-profit organization committed to reaching teens for Christ. Based in Holyoke, Colorado, Youth Challenge serves the northeast Colorado and northwest Nebraska area. The organization has three focuses of ministry: Bible Quizzing, summer camps, and outreach.

Youth Challenge has been a part of my life since age ten. I joined a Bible Quizzing team and learned 15 verses for my first meet. Bible Quizzing is a competitive sport where you memorize scripture, answer questions, and earn points for your team. I fell in love with the sport and competed through High School. I also attended several Youth Challenge summer camps. After graduating, I remained involved with quizzing as a coach. The verses I learned as a teenager still impact my life, coming to mind when I need them. I believe in Youth Challenge’s ministry, which is why I’m excited to join the Youth Challenge team! While their base is in Holyoke, I’m adopting Morgan County as my area of ministry. This includes continuing to disciple youths through Bible Quizzing, and tract distribution projects: The Fourth of July Parade, Halloween-themed tracts to trick-or-treaters, and the Christmas parade. In 2024, we distributed 6,850 gospel tracts!

In the future, I would love to introduce more churches to quizzing, and expand outreach, such as a Youth Challenge booth at Fort Morgan’s Music in the Park or Brush’s car show.

Bible Quizzing in Jamaica

I was able to go to Jamaica again for their Bible Quiz tournament. Bible Quizzing is a competitive team sport where you memorize scripture, answer questions, and earn points for your team. It was such a blessing to work with the same students from previous years! God answered prayers—all our luggage arrived, we had no trouble entering Jamaica, and He gave my group the opportunity to share the gospel with a 2nd and 3rd grade class.

Bible Quizzing in the States

My Fort Morgan quiz team completed another great season! We placed 2nd, and three of my quizzers placed well: Zarya was 11th, Aryll was 6th, and Xander was quizzer of the year! Not only did God bring us new quizzers, my quizzers also greatly grew spiritually this year!

Join My Prayer Team

While I’m not raising financial support, would you consider joining my prayer team? I’m creating a monthly calendar so every day is covered in prayer. First, select a day you’d like to pray for our ministry, like the first Tuesday. Next, fast from something on your prayer day—a meal, social media, coffee—and pray for Morgan County. Pray that God would open doors for outreach and meaningful connections.

Praise!

The Jamaica trip was a success!

We had a great quiz season!

Spiritual growth in my quizzers.

Abiding I’ve been studying 1 John in preparation of our upcoming Bible Quiz season. John, unlike many of Paul’s letters, orbits or repeats key ideas: Darkness vs light. Love vs hate. Obedience. Fellowship. And abiding. I’ve been studying what abide means: Abide: To stay. Remain. Be present. Continue. Dwell. Endure. Its the word used in the gospels when Jesus stays in a village or when he asks his disciples to remain with him while praying in the garden of Gethsemane. John has many things to...

Prepare the Way Prepare the Way was the theme of Nationals 2025. Our opening speaker was a former quizzer who shared about verses he was memorizing that convicted him: “I didn’t like that verse, but I had to memorize it and review it.” These verses were a spotlight on areas in his life that he had not surrendered to God. By saying ‘yes’ to these spiritual pin-pricks, he became more like Jesus. “When you come to a verse you don’t like, surrender that area to Jesus.” Memorizing isn’t just for...

Bible Quiz Regionals Youth Challenge took three teams to the Midland regionals competition. Most of the quizzers on my team, Veritas, had never attended a post-season competition before. Everyone on Veritas answered, and several quizzed out! They also made memories with the other quizzers. The last night, the three Youth Challenge teams had the camp to themselves and enjoyed playing games together, including flashlight hide-and-seek. Final team standings: Witness placed 5th, Ginosko placed...
